Working title: “Dark Side of the Moron”

What a new pair of eyes could do for you

Some perspective

And what incredible adventures are in store for you

And how elegant you’ll look against that rotted-out background

It’s time we graduated from the lives of animals

Mere eaters of food

We’ll brush the dust off all the top hats and the petticoats and camisoles

And add tradition to unfashionable attitude

Not everyone is meant to be free

It may be more important to endure your suffering with dignity

The door is open but you’re not meant to see

So why not stop and hold a moment instead of fumbling for eternity?

Don’t spend a second longer sacrificing now for much later

It’s just taxing

After all the to and fro you ought to have some more to show

Than just a promise of protection from starvation and distraction

I know I could be wrong

But I also know better

Nowhere in my plan will I bow to any man

I put my trust in dumb luck and the wisdom of the weather

Do for yourself

Or get yourself done

You can’t sleep while there’s promises to keep?

Well that’s better than having to break one

What could you want that you don’t already have?

I like this a lot but am unsure where to go with it, and I haven’t put anything up here in awhile, so give a listen, and I’d love some advice (“scrap it,” “add a bridge,” “sing over it” etc.).
